So earlier this year my Dad found out that he had to go get surgery on his sinuses [he had tiny sinuses] i don't know why but my sisters and i found that hilarious. so as it turns out tiny sinuses can be hereditary, and i have always had horrible allergies and hay fever so i decided to go see our long time ENT Dr. Dave Hill to get my sinuses checked out too. he told me that i had broken my nose before...i had no idea, but i guess my mom had taken me to go see him when it happened and i guess technically it was a deviated septum but same same right? so long story longer i also had tiny sinuses, my septum was deviated quite sharply to the the right and my turbinate bones blocked my already tiny sinuses. Dave laughed at my reply when i said i thought it was normal to have an eternally stuffy/blocked nose. so i set a surgery date July 31st was my lucky day. this would be my first ever surgery and i was a wee bit nerve nerve....my biggest worry was that i was gonna be COMPLETELY knocked out and wouldn't remember ANYTHING that happened to me in there....i dunno if you know this about me or not but i'm not a very trusting person..i sleep with weapons. and i try to avoid compromising situations whenever possible, you can imagine how troublesome this predicament was for me.
July 31st finally arrived i was actually pretty calm on the way to the hospital my nerves didn't catch up with me until i had to put the very stylish hospital gown on [ps there was a faux pocket right over my right breast area....was not doing anything to reassure me]. my Mom just laughed at me cause she said i was being overly paranoid and that nothing was going to happen to me but i wasn't convinced. so then my first nurse Leslie came and and she was nice...at first. then she put in the IV it hurt like the dickens. first of all she had to poke me twice and then was treating my arm like a rag doll and when i told her it hurt like the dickens she just said oh ya it usually stings...i was like oh no no no that ain't no sting girl i think you just suck at puttin in IV's but you're too proud to admit it you cow. {so i didn't really say that but i didn't want her to hate me and stab me with needle out of vengeance...} then this lovely nurse Heather came in and she introduced herself and said she would be the patient liaison, she asked if anything was wrong and i said well my IV is still hurting something fierce and she said in a no big deal tone oh well it doesn't matter cause you'll be knocked out in a little while...by little while she meant an hour and a half....thanks Heather you're great. so then finally i met the first genuinely nice person besides the old man that helped me sign in. this guy's name was David and he was an orderly he was just taking me up to surgery, he was a def def gentleman...i love gentlemen especially since they are so rare these days, he heard me sniff my eternally stuffy nose and stopped and got a tissue for me...who thinks of that besides a gentleman. then he asked me if the nurse had given me a blanket and was appalled when he found out she hadn't and he went and got me one and waited with me in the OR hallway until Dr. Dave came to talk to me. then after that i met my OR nurse his name was Shane he was also a gentleman, and super nice he reassured me that they would take care of me and explained everything and was just an all around nice guy. then came McDreamy oh i mean Dr. Badger my anesthesiologist no but really he was better that McDreamy...haha he was also really nice and actually showed concern when i told him my IV still hurt. and asked what he could do to help my nerves when i told him it was my first surgery. then they took me into the room and the last thing i remember is finding out that Shane was also from the Kaysville area.
they said the surgery took about an hour, but i don't remember any of it. all i remember is waking up to a palm tree above my bed and my recovery nurse Tessa was telling me that my blood pressure was pretty high and so i asked why and told her that i had never had high blood pressure and she said well it can be because you were nervous and i just started laughing and told her that i was definitely nervous. then i asked if i could see her face and she was beautiful and i told her so. then i told her that they had lots of beautiful people at that hospital cause David was a beautiful gentleman, Dr. Dave had beautiful eyes, Shane had a beautiful face and Dr. Badger was just beautiful, she of course laughed and said ya Dr. Badger is a looker. then they finally took me out to my room where my mom was waiting, where i proceeded to tell her that she was also beautiful and told her all about all the beautiful people that i saw. apparently when i am higher than a kite from anesthesia i am a talker. my mom said that i wouldn't stop talking and when i finally took a break from talking i told my mom that i had to call Ashley cause she was gonna think i was hilarious. so i left Ashy a very beautiful message and then called everyone of my sisters. don't worry guys Elise came and took several videos of me and then my mom took several more once i approve them i will most likely post them to YouTube, stuff like that just has to be shared.one of the things i remember most was that apparently i was real attached to my Guatemalan blood, my mom wanted me to stop swallowing it and spit it out instead, but then i told he,r through a bout of tears, that i would never spit out my Guatemalan blood because i loved it too much and i was proud of it and it was beautiful.....my new favorite word is {beautiful}.
the strangest thing that came out of this whole ordeal is that i've decided that it's up to me [with help from Clara] to rid the world of evil. i was really sensitive about that, i cried, i cried a lot, especially about that and was very upset that people could be so evil to each other so i guess the moral of the story is don't be evil or me and Clara will come get you. can't wait for my next surgery...hahaha
ps i think you are ALL {beautiful} people.
